🌏 Over 300 million tons of plastic are produced every year for use in a wide variety of applications.
🌏 At least 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year, and make up 80% of all marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments.
🌏 Plastic pollution threatens food safety and quality, human health, coastal tourism, and contributes to climate change.
Plastic is all around us, packaging food, books, toilet paper, sanitary items, wrapping paper, toys, toiletries, the list goes on.
All it takes is baby steps to reduce your plastic usage.
🌿 Shampoo, conditioner and face wash bars
🌿 Bamboo tooth brushes, ours come in a cardboard box for recycling
🌿 Epsom salt and essential oils over fabric softener
🌿 Soapberries or soap flakes over washing powder, which may come in cardboard boxes but come with a plastic scoop
🌿 Our cleaning sponges are wrapped in clear polypropylene which is recyclable
🌿 Bamboo hairbrushes
🌿 Reusable cotton face pads, instead of disposable ones wrapped in plastic. We get ours from BellaMade
🌿 Reusable sanitary pads, pads themselves have plastic backings as well as being wrapped in plastic. You can get your reusable sanitary pads from Archer & I
🌿 Stainless steel pegs, doesn’t it get annoying having to buy packets of plastic pegs every couple of months because they snap so easily? Especially in the Darwin sun ☀️ Plastic pegs wrapped in plastic packaging 🤷♀️ don’t think that you can get much more plastic than that!
I hope that just by reading our little blog will help you make some steps, even baby steps are better than no steps, in the right direction to living plastic free.
